proposed Rome for 1979 , but Brussels won by a few votes . In 1979 , Riccardi proposed Rome again for 1985 , but withdrew the candidacy in 1982 . In 1988 , Alberto Sitta ( CMI ) proposed Rome for 1991 , but after his sudden death , Italy withdrew .
Finally , in 2012 , Walter Rolfo ( Masters of Magic ) proposed Rimini for 2015 . The other candidate , Busan ( South Korea ), received 193 votes , while Rimini won with 241 votes . Ten years later , for FISM 2025 , the candidates were Shenzhen ( China ) and Turin . The result ? Turin triumphed with 265 votes against 101 for the Chinese city .
Thus , we come to the end of our story : this year , from July 14th to 19th , Turin will have the honor of hosting this prestigious event at the Lingotto Congress Center , and thus , Italy continues to be a reference point in world magic , keeping alive a centuries-old tradition that has left an indelible mark in the history of illusionism . with 19 winners , including 2 World Champions and 1 Grand Prix winner . Six Italians have been judges : Alberto Sitta ( 8 times ), Domenico Dante ( 5 times ), Andrea Baioni ( 2 times ), and Mario Altobelli , Manlio Turrini , and Tony Binarelli ( 1 time each ).
Since 2012 , the presidency of FISM has been entrusted to Italians : Domenico Dante held the role until 2022 , then passing the baton to Andrea Baioni .
Italy also boasts a solid organizational presence within FISM , with 6 affiliated clubs : CMI ( since 1958 ),
Masters of Magic ( since 2012 ), Ring 204 IBM in Rome ( since 1976 ), two clubs in Turin ( Amici della Magia since 1979 and Bartolomeo Bosco since 1985 ), one in Milan ( CLAM since 1982 ) and two clubs have requested to be admitted the 22nd December 2024 : one in Livorno ( La Corte dei Miracoli ) and one in Rome ( The CMI Delegation “ Lamberto Desideri ”)
