A new series of articles highlighting how magic and education go hand-in-hand . Jeff has over 20 years experience as an educator at all levels and has studied at Studio 58 in Vancouver and a Masters of Education degree .
To start I ’ d like to begin by thanking Paul Romhany for the opportunity to write this series of articles for Vanish Magazine . Paul is a dear friend an amazingly talented performer . He ’ s also brilliantly funny as those at the recent 3 of Clubs convention in Victoria can attest to when they witnessed Paul ’ s now legendary “ McBridesque ” Bread Bowl routine . Think Jeff McBride meets Mr . Bean and you ’ ll have a bit of a visual . I ’ ll leave it at that and Paul can share further if he feels the need to explain that most hilarious fiasco .
I ’ d like to provide a short introduction so that you can get a sense of my background particularly as it applies to my magic work and thinking . Over the past 20 years I ’ ve been an educator and have taught at a variety of levels . During the past several years I ’ ve had the pleasure of being a middle school drama / performing arts teacher . I ’ ve studied theatre at Studio 58 in Vancouver and received my M . Ed . from the University of British Columbia . Much of the research for this advanced degree involved project work related to the use of magic in an educational context . I ’ ve been mentored as a private student of Jeff McBride and Eugene Burger at the prestigious
