THIS MONTH

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
This December issue of Vanish is packed to the brim with powerful articles, innovative tricks, thoughtful reviews, and so much more. Thanks to our incredible foreign correspondents, we’ re able to spotlight performers and creators from around the globe— artists I might never have the chance to discover otherwise.
Our featured act this month is the legendary Peter Marvey, a magician I have admired for many years. Vanish correspondent Bénigne Tainturier visited his brand-new show in Switzerland and secured an exclusive interview, offering rare insight into Peter’ s creative process and several of his groundbreaking original illusions.
Bénigne also brings us a remarkable conversation with Boris Verhovsky, who served as head coach for Cirque du Soleil for over three decades. This interview opens a fascinating window into the inner workings of one of the most influential artistic institutions of our time.
Connie Boyd continues her celebrated Magical Women series with a beautifully written feature on Jade. Jade’ s magic goes far beyond entertainment— it weaves a narrative of resilience, evolution, and triumph that will inspire every reader.
This month, the magic world mourns the loss of Jeff Sheridan, widely regarded as the father of modern street magic. Ben Robinson and Jeff McBride share heartfelt tributes that capture both the brilliance of his artistry and the profound impact he had on generations of performers.
One of the greatest joys of running Vanish for the past 14 years is the privilege of shining a light on those who have shaped my own career. My dear friend and mentor Alan Watson was recently honored with a star on the New Zealand Walk of Fame— a recognition he so richly deserves. Richard Webster was there to cover this milestone for Vanish.
This year has been extraordinary for the magazine. We were awarded FISM’ s top honor: Best Magic Magazine in the World, along with the Literary Award from the Los Angeles Tribune— both humbling acknowledgments of the dedication and passion poured into Vanish over the past 14 years.
As we close out this remarkable year, I want to wish all our readers a wonderful Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Thank you for being part of the Vanish family.
