Not only is Dave the former long-serving film critic for the Chicago Tribune and numerous other publications, but he also serves as a Film Curator at The Museum of Modern Art in New York and is a passionate magician.

This month, thanks to Dave ' s expertise and generosity, VANISH is able to share the remarkable story behind What Price Glory? as The Museum of Modern Art prepares to re-release the film on the 100th anniversary of its original debut. Audiences around the world will once again have the opportunity to experience this cinematic masterpiece— and rediscover its previously unheralded star, the immortal Cardini.

Also featured this month is the incredibly talented Casey Kathleen. While sitting in the audience at Limitless in Las Vegas recently, I experienced something that has become all too rare— genuine wonder. Casey has brought a fresh, modern approach to the art of card manipulation, and her performance alongside Shin Lim was nothing short of extraordinary.

Finally, I ' d like to share a heartwarming story that happened to my son, Jon-Paul, and me just a few days ago.

With FIFA in town, my home country of New Zealand was playing here in Vancouver. The tickets were well beyond what I had planned to spend, so I assumed we ' d be watching the match from home. On the morning of the game, I stopped to buy a coffee when a woman struck up a conversation and casually asked what I was doing that evening. As it turned out, she was the marketing manager for one of the event sponsors. After hearing my story, she surprised me by handing me two tickets to the match.

That unexpected act of kindness gave Jon-Paul and me an experience we ' ll never forget. We spent the evening cheering on New Zealand together, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Sometimes life has a wonderful way of reminding us that generosity still exists, often when we least expect it. For that incredible gift, I will always be grateful to Artigiano Coffee for a gift that will stay in our minds forever.
