They say you should never meet your heroes , thankfully Nick Lewin is the exception to that rule ! I first saw Nick perform in Las Vegas when he was the headline act at the Maxim Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas . Ricki Dunn told me I had to go and see one of the greatest comedy acts of all time - and he was right , Nick did not disappoint . Watching him perform was a masterclass in showmanship and how to blend comedy with magic . I had never seen anything like it , and to this day his performance remains one of the most memorable shows I have witnessed . I can still close my eyes and remember the feeling I felt over 30 years ago . His Linking Ring Routine is by far the best that has ever been created .
Throughout the years Nick and Susan have become part of our family , and their partnership is an inspiration for many of us in show business . He has been one of the backbone contributors of VANISH MAGIC MAGAZINE since the very first issue , and we wouldn ’ t be where we are without his consulting , advice and articles ... and Susan ’ s editing .
This special edition has been put together to celebrate Nick ’ s 70th Birthday on Valentine ’ s Day , and his 52 years in showbusiness . A very big thank you to Diana Zimmerman for her amazing article . I don ’ t believe there is any gig he hasn ’ t done throughout his career , from television to cruise ships , headlining in Las Vegas to high-end corporate work and close-up gigs .
We are all very fortunate that we now have access to Nick ’ s knowledge through his writing , masterclasses he offers , and products he has released . His upcoming book on COMEDY will become the GO TO BOOK on the subject .
It is an honor to call my hero my friend , and my family sends you all our love . Happy 70th birthday Nick . I ’ ll start work on the special edition for your 100th .
