little unorthodox this month . In |
this article I ’ m writing about a magical , |
WOW-man , namely Sébastien Bazou . |
I ’ m known for helping and supporting quality magic and magicians , in all forms . In this case , I believe Sébastien merits writing about . He is an advocate of magic and magicians documenting and publishing works to further it as an artform . As you ’ ll read in this this SPECIAL EDITION VANISH magazine , Sébastien has dedicated a substantial amount of time and energy to research and publish a remarkable essay covering a historic thread of female magicians through the centuries . It ’ s my great pleasure that Sébastien , who prefers to be low key , agreed to this interview .
I first met Sébastien in 2014 when he contacted me regarding a feature article on my shows and magic for ArteFake .
I discovered ArteFake is remarkable ; it ’ s an independent French e-Magazine website that Sébastien cofounded in 2004 with another magician , Eric Constant . ArteFake ’ s goal was and is to modernize and inform the public ’ s perception of magic as an artform and
discipline . ArteFake documents and respects magic history while striving to defy the stereotypical impressions that the public unconsciously recalls . ArteFake offers a dedicated , rich and diversified data base with over a thousand articles on their website .
Sébastien admits , “ ArteFake is largely built on my own obsessions and favorite magic disciplines . It reflects the diversity and artistic curiosity that is ingrained in my character .”
He has organized the web-site into magical specialty groups that reflect many artistic fields such as theatre , fine arts , literature , music , psychology , conjuring , magie nouvelle , etc .
ArteFake is completely independent not belonging to any magic federation . This freedom allows it to document magic without politics , policies or prejudice . Viewers are free to browse and to make their own determinations and references either independently or with keywords and / or the theme
