virtual space could come into play for magic and mentalism , especially when human connection is an essential key where instantaneous ‘ live ’ interaction with the audience is what gives our art form that much-needed credibility . How do we recreate the same level of trust and experience with spectators watching us from their homes ? What can we do to ensure viewers can still feel a sense of astonishment and be amazed by our interactive illusions and effects through their screens ? Which interesting and unique tricks can we perform to engage our audience without our show looking like a run-of-the-mill magic demonstration ?
Vanish Magazine is proud to present the origin story of Bakore Magic , as well as , how the phenomenal trio behind it — Amir Lustig , Guy Bavli & Haim Goldenberg — came up with the perfect alchemical recipe for the continued survival and livelihood of performing artists .
Vanish Magazine : Amir , Guy , and Haim , you are world-class mentalists who constantly travel for work , performing for the biggest names and corporations . In fact , all of you are not only busy entertainers but also creators of many timeless effects in magic and mentalism . Some are even used by the likes of award-winning celebrity performers around the world such as David Copperfield , David Blane , Darren Brown , Lior Suchard , and Keith Berry . Tell us more about the founding of Bakore Magic and how The BM Project came to be .
Amir Lustig : We are old friends and like most professional entertainers , spending weeks away from home to perform around the world was our usual way of life . That is , until the first quarter of 2020 when Covid-19 unexpectedly took the world by surprise ! In an instant , everything stopped in its tracks and we had to cope with the devastating fallout of cancelled shows and a future that almost felt like it didn ’ t exist . For a couple of weeks , we were all scrambling around in despair , worried and lost , until the three of us sat down one day and had a brilliant meeting over Zoom and came up with several new and exciting ideas . So even though I ’ m here in Israel , Haim is based in Toronto , and Guy lives in Miami , we spent many days and nights together talking , thinking , and brainstorming despite the time difference .
