Here we are , a lifetime in show business , performed internationally on cruise ships , television shows , comedy clubs , festivals , and corporate events . 33 years in yet I can ’ t find a single damn magician to write this article and about me . Who the heck would want the work ? So be it , I always do things on my own , so it ’ s fitting I write this article myself and interview ME . I mean really , only I can ask “ me ” the hard questions . Are you sitting comfortably ? Then we ’ ll begin .
How long have you been a middle of the road hack who never takes a chance ? I ’ ve been a working full-time performer for 33 years . Hack for 30 , middle of the road until this very day . I started when I was 16 , the day I got my license . I ’ d been booked on a one nighter in Sudbury Ontario , so I had to get the driver ’ s license or not do the show . That ’ s how I mark the full-time work . The day the ball was firmly clamped to my ankle . I ’ d been performing at kid ’ s events like malls and birthday parties etc . before quitting my job as an usher at a movie theatre and never stopped working .
Once I ’ d done the Sudbury performance other comedy clubs and shows came from that , as always , they did back then , by way of word of mouth . Comics talking to other comics about the new kid on the block .
Once I realized you could get a fair number of gigs from having friends my desire to move beyond middle of the road … well , that changed pretty quickly .
