Method
Here ’ s how everything is set up : First , I contact a news outlet with a press release that introduces me and outlines the stunt to be performed — demonstrating psychic control . It ’ s best to keep this part vague to create curiosity . With a date and time confirmed , I chose a local park near the media outlet to minimize travel issues . Just before my guests arrive , I plant my loyal pigeon assistant firmly in the grass and scatter some breadcrumbs to attract other birds or animals like squirrels .
The stage is set with our trusty bird mixed in with the local wildlife , appearing to graze like any other creature in the park . While mingling with the other birds , my decoy and I wait for the right moment to begin . When the time is right , I perform my ritual : I take a bird-sized bag containing my phone , which has a YouTube video of a cooing pigeon paused , and walk toward my target to gently bag him .
Once my invitees arrive , I elaborate on the story I mentioned earlier about how magicians used to perform this ‘ trick ’ in the past and how it would be unacceptable today . I then explain how I ’ ve mastered the psychic technique of honing in on my target and controlling their state of consciousness , even from a distance . I emphasize that with human subjects , I can influence them using vocal cues , audio , or even physical manipulations like pressure points , but with animals , especially in an urban environment , this would be nearly impossible .
Next , I ask my guests if they think attempting this on a specific bird located among a group in plain view would be an acceptable challenge . I stand up , fix my sights on the pigeon in the distance , raise my arm with my palm open toward my target , and slowly close my eyes . After a brief moment — just enough for my guests to wonder what ’ s happening — I open my eyes and lower my arm . Pointing to my target , I tell my guests that I feel I have succeeded in my challenge .
I then slowly walk with my bag toward the decoy . As I approach , the living animals scatter , leaving my feathered associate open for retrieval . Once next to the bird , I crouch down , open the bag , carefully place my taxidermy piece inside , and press play on my phone , triggering soothing cooing sounds .
I return to my guests , who are now baffled by what they ’ ve just witnessed , and explain that I will head back to my studio to train my newly found assistant . I can briefly open the bag to show the pigeon inside , since realism isn ’ t an issue . Because you don ’ t want your new friend to suffocate , it ’ s best to keep follow-up questions to a minimum and suggest any queries be sent via email . Trust me , you ’ ll get a reaction from this , so use it wisely to spark interest in your local area .
Have fun !
