see Champions of Magic when we were there in the Spring and is now into magic herself because of me . That ' s pretty freakin ' cool . Touring with a larger show has allowed me to think and create ' bigger ' - my producer literally got me a flame thrower and my own goth-girl Doll House- best gifts ever ! When the sky is ( almost ) the limit , the creative possibilities are endless ."
" However , touring is not all the glamour it ' s made out to be . It can feel like you ' re at ' work ' 24 / 7 on tour . One-nighters mean you ' re either in a theater or on the tour bus / in a hotel for a few hours . I ' ve toured to every state except Alaska but there are only a few that I actually got to see and explore anything other than the venue . You ' re constantly surrounded by your cast and crew so there ' s not a lot of personal time ( so you ' d better get along ). You spend way too may hours in airports ! You ' re getting paid for all the stuff outside the actual performance because performing is the easy part !"
" With a residency , you still have a separate life . You get to sleep in your own bed , cook in your own kitchen , spend quality time with your friends / significant others . The schedule is somewhat fixed so you can actually plan ahead . There ' s more of a permanency to it ."
" Also , you don ' t have to pack everything up at the end of each show to quite the same extent . It ' s a great platform to test out new things , get the reps in , get it in front of an audience and really tweak and refine things quickly ."
" However , you learn to deal with intoxicated people … when the show starts at 10pm , and we are a ' punk-rock ' magic show , it ' s a very different crowd . In a theater , people generally know how to be an audience , in a casino it can be a different story …"
